PROGRAMME

OF WORK

GENERAL

Colonies at 31st March, 1948, have been verified from the

Certificates rendered by the Crown Agents without and

endorsement by the Comptroller and Auditor General.

18. The Director of Audit reports that, so far as he is

aware, no Boards of Survey were appointed to examine the

cash and bank balances and stocks of stamps held by the

Treasury and by other departments at 31st March, 1948, as

required by Colonial Regulation 300.

19. The approved Programme of Work has been completed with

the exception of a number of subsidiary and departmental

accounts.

20. The Director of Audits reports that it has not yet

proved possible to examine fully all the deposit and

advance accounts referred to in paragraph 36 of my last

Report, and that a number of the suspense accounts referred

to, including those of the Department of Supplies Trade and

Industry, are still awaiting investigation.

21. With reference to paragraph 37 of my last Report, the

Director of Audit states that at the date of his Report, no

reply had been received from the Accountant General to his

enquiry as to whether reconciliation of all departmental advance, deposit and suspense accounts with the correspond-

ing Treasury balances had been effected at 31st March, 1948.
